1. Philanthropy is different from charity in that instead of giving because the gift is needed, giving is done to improve value or quality of a place or organization.

2.  Andrew Carnegie gave away $350 Million ($4.8 Billion today) to build 2509 Libraries and supply money to education and world peace organizations.
